Police Chief Todd Stancil – 1995 Serving the Citizens of Yelm since 1995. Appointed to the position of Police Chief in 2002. Serves as the Emergency Management Coordinator for the City of Yelm and has been a member of the Yelm Lion’s Club since 2003. Chief Stancil is currently the longest serving Chief/Sheriff in Thurston County.  Chief Stancil grew up in South Thurston County and graduated from Rainier High School in 1989.  He enjoys spending time with his large family and friends.

Rob Carlson

Assistant Chief Rob Carlson – 2005
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2005. Served as a Reserve Officer for Yelm in 1993 before being hired by Seattle Police Department. Sgt. Carlson then moved to Arizona and worked for the Lake Havasu Police Department for 10 years before returning to Yelm in 2005. Sgt. Carlson was promoted to the position of Sergeant in 2007 and also serves as the supervisor for the Reserve Police Officer and Field Training Program.   Sgt. Carlson served in the Armed Forces and grew up in the Olympia area.  He enjoys staying in top physical condition and spending time with his family.

Patrol Sergeant Joel Turner – 2003
Serving the Citizens of Yelm since 2003. Joel was promoted to the
position of Patrol Sergeant in 2019. Joel serves as a Firearms Instructor
for the Yelm Police Department and the State of Washington Training Academy. Joel is a member of the Thurston Country SWAT Team, Field Training Officer and a World Champion Elk Bugler. In his spare time Joel enjoys hunting and spending time with his family.

Patrol Officer Stacy Field – 1995
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 1995. Stacy has served the department in multiple capacities during her years of service to include Crime Prevention, School Resource Officer, Child Abuse Investigator and Field Training Officer.  Officer Field grew up in the Olympia area and loves spending her time training/showing her horses and spending time with family and friends. 

Rompa

Patrol Officer Matt Rompa – 1996 Serving the Citizens of Yelm since 1996. Served as the department’s first Detective from 2003-2009. Trained as an Evidence Technician, Defensive
Tactics Instructor and Field Training Officer.  Officer Rompa grew up in Anchorage, Alaska and enjoys the outdoors, working on his house and spending time with family.

Patrol Officer Jared Geray – 1999
Serving the Citizens of Yelm since 1999. Officer Geray worked for the Spokane County Sheriff’s Department, City of Roy and the City of Rainier before joining our department. Officer Geray is a firearms instructor, field training officer and has served in the position of Detective from 2009 to 2015. Jared served in the Armed Forces and grew up in Mahnoman, Minnesota and is an avid sportsman.

Detective Bill DeVore – 2000
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2000. Officer DeVore has resided in Yelm his entire life and graduated from Yelm High School. Officer DeVore has served as a DARE/School Resource Officer for several years. He is a field training officer, member of the Thurston County Child Abduction Response Team and also serves as the department Gang Expert. Bill is currently serving in the position of Detective. Officer DeVore collects sports memorabilia and enjoys time with his family and friends. 

Don Moody - Copy

Community Resource Officer Don Moody – 2004
Serving the citizens of Yelm from 2004 to 2016 and rejoined our family in the beginning of 2018. Don is a member of the Thurston County Hostage Negotiations Team.  Prior to law enforcement Officer Moody was an Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) for Thurston County. Officer Moody was selected as Officer of the Year in 2011. Officer Moody grew up in Fort Worth, Texas and served in the Armed Forces.  He enjoys camping and riding his Harley Davidson with his wonderful wife.

Patrol Officer Devon Taylor – 2011
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2011. Devon served as a Reserve Police Officer for the City of Yelm from 2002 to 2010. Devon was employed by the Tenino Police Department prior to joining the Yelm Police Department in 2011.   Devon worked was selected as Officer of the Year in 2013 and 2014 and has received the State Medal of Honor for a life saving effort in 2013. Devon serves as a Field Training Officer for the department and enjoys spending time with his family in his spare time. 

Chris Davis

Patrol Officer Chris Davis – 2012
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2012. Before Chris began serving the citizens of Yelm, he served a tour in Iraq as a member of the U.S Army and served on the Tenino Police Department for two years before joining the Yelm Police Department in 2012. Chris has received advanced training in the area of narcotic interdiction, serves as a Field Training Officer for the department and was selected Officer of the Year in 2017. Chris grew up in Pomona, California and in his spare time enjoys working out and spending time with his family.

Dan Rozier

School Resource Officer Dan Rozier – 2016
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2016. Dan came to the City of Yelm via the City of Roy where he served the residents for 8 years. Dan left the City of Roy as a Senior Patrol Officer. Dan also served as Reserve Police Officer for the City of DuPont and Squaxin Island Tribal Police. Dan graudated from the Washington State Police Academy in 2007. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family and friends.

Sergeant Tillman Atkins – 2016
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2016. Tillman came to the City of Yelm via the City of Roy and Algona where he served as a Patrol Officer for a combined 8 years. Tillman served in the U.S. Army from 2004-07 and received his Criminal Justice Training in California in 2002. Tillman enjoys camping and spending time with his family. 

Anthony Sparkuhl

Patrol Officer Anthony Sparkuhl – 2017
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2017. Anthony came to the city of Yelm via the Nisqually Police Department where he served since 2015. Prior to this Anthony served as a Corrections Officer,  Community Service Officer and  a Police Explorer. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with his family and playing an occasional video game.

Patrol Officer Brian Bard – 2018
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2018. Brian came to the City of Yelm via the Algona Police Department where he served  the citizens since 2015. Prior to this he served as a Reserve Officer for the City of Algona since 2007 and spent 14 years as a Security Officer for the Boeing Company. Brian served in the United States Marine Corp as a Military Police Officer and was honorably discharged in 2005. Brian graduated from the Washington State Police Academy in 2016. Brian enjoys spending time on his boat with his family and friends.

Administrative Assistant Donna McCann – 1991
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 1991. Mrs. McCann is currently the longest serving employee in the police department. Mrs. McCann serves as the department evidence technician and is one of two fingerprint technicians on staff.   Donna enjoys spending time with family and friends in her spare time.  

Stephanie


Administrative Assistant Stephanie Calton – 2020
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2020. Stephanie worked for APP for 12 years and is excited to join the City of Yelm team. In her free time Stephanie enjoys hiking, camping, backpacking and traveling, basically anything outdoors!

Reserve Patrol Officer Mike Baker – 2003
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2003. Since that time Officer Baker has volunteered more than 2000 hours of service to the community.  Officer Baker is the senior Reserve Officer and is one of four level III reserves. Officer Baker was selected as the Reserve Officer of the Year in 2012.

Reserve Patrol Officer Joseph Rivera – 2013

Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2013. Joe started out as a Volunteer for the department in 2013 and was hired as a Reserve Police Officer in 2016. Joe was selected as the Reserve Patrol Officer of the Year in 2016. Joe enjoys spending time with his family and serving his community.

Reserve Patrol Officer PJ Palma – 2017
Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2017. PJ served the community of Rhode Island as a full-time law enforcement officer before re-signing with the military which he serves today. 


Reserve Patrol Officer Robert Towle – 2018
  Serving the citizens of Yelm since 2018. Robert resides in the community of Rainier and enjoys spending time with family and friends.
