Sadly, Dana Carter, the very important new principal of Calimesa Elementary School\u00a0in\u00a0Southern California\u2019s Inland Empire, failed to get the memo about the 226-year-old document.<\/p>\n<p>An already-changed policy instituted at Calimesa Elementary for the start of the\u00a0school year\u00a0had forced students to kneel down in front of Carter \u2014 and potentially other administrators\u2013 before being sent to class, reports\u00a0CBS in Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>School officials described the bizarre kneeling policy as a positive effort to &#8216;protect&#8217; students. During its brief life, the policy was most frequently implemented at the official beginning of each class day and\u00a0right after recess.<\/p>\n<p>Several parents didn\u2019t love the procedure. A flyer opposing the policy circulated among offended moms and dads.<\/p>\n<p>One parent, the mother of a seven-year-old girl at the school, spoke to CBS Los Angeles.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cShe says that she has to drop down on one knee with her hands at her side, wait for the principal to come out, lift his arms and tell them to go to class,\u201d the unidentified mother told the station.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI feel that the principal wants to be like a king, and we don\u2019t have kings in America,\u201d she added.<\/p>\n<p>Not long after CBS Los Angeles initially broke the story, Cali Binks, the\u00a0local school\u00a0district superintendent, announced that the controversial kneeling policy would be immediately eliminated.<\/p>\n<p>The school district notified parents of the change by mass phone calls.<\/p>\n<p>It is completely unclear what threatens the Calimesa Elementary campus to such an extent that the principal wanted to demand that students kneel before him before school and after recess.<\/p>\n<p>Principal Carter has apparently deigned to schedule a meeting with parents to design future &#8216;safety&#8217;\u00a0options for the school.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Article I of the\u00a0United States Constitution forbids\u00a0any grant of nobility in the United States.
