Olympia, WA (7-4-14) —<\/strong> Heather Wood from the Urban Evergreen Bee Sanctuary (Olympia) wants a bee hive in every garden. She builds hives and distributes them to those who want one. She started with a small grant and uses sustainable wood for basic materials, which cost about $70. There is no charge for a hive, but she asks for donations.<\/p>\n

The hives are not designed like standard commercial supers, but are called top bar hives–requiring less maintenance and disturbing of the bees in a more natural configuration. Come to one of her workshops and you may decide you, too, want a home for our endangered bees.<\/p>\n
