John Dean, the White House counsel to President\u00a0Richard M. Nixon<\/a>\u00a0who was once dubbed the \u201cmaster manipulator\u201d of the Watergate scandal, says he knows legal trouble and former President\u00a0Donald Trump<\/a>\u00a0is in it deep.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dean shared a report on former Trump personal attorney\u00a0Michael Cohen,<\/a>\u00a0who has been meeting with the Manhattan district attorney\u2019s office, which is investigating Trump for potential fraud, including tax fraud. It was Cohen\u2019s\u00a0seventh meeting<\/a>\u00a0with the DA\u2019s office.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dean pointed out on Twitter the significance of all those meetings:<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dean shared a report on former Trump personal attorney\u00a0Michael Cohen,<\/a>\u00a0who has been meeting with the Manhattan district attorney\u2019s office, which is investigating Trump for potential fraud, including tax fraud. It was Cohen\u2019s\u00a0seventh meeting<\/a>\u00a0with the DA\u2019s office.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Dean pointed out on Twitter the significance of all those meetings:<\/p>\n “From personal experience as a key witness I assure you that you do not visit a prosecutor\u2019s office 7 times if they are not planning to indict those about whom you have knowledge. It is only a matter of how many days until DA Vance indicts Donald & Co.”<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The DA\u2019s office last month\u00a0obtained years of tax data<\/a>\u00a0from Trump\u2019s accounting firm after the Supreme Court ruled against his efforts to block that access.\u00a0In an interview with Reuters,\u00a0<\/a>Cohen called those files the \u201choly grail.\u201d<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cohen was Trump\u2019s longtime personal attorney and fixer before turning on him in 2018 and testifying before Congress. He also\u00a0pleaded guilty<\/a>\u00a0to lying to Congress and campaign finance violations for arranging the hush-money payments from Trump to porn star Stormy Daniels and former Playboy model Karen McDougal.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Cohen was\u00a0sentenced to three years<\/a>\u00a0in prison but was released\u00a0into home confinement last year<\/a>\u00a0due to the coronavirus pandemic.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n \u00a0<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" by Ed Mazza (3-11-21) — John Dean, the White House counsel to President\u00a0Richard M.
