PIE!<\/em>
\nIn the sky or by and by,
\nWe want pie until we die.
\nWhang dang doodle!
\nA treat not always sweet,<\/em>
\nAnd better than strudel.
\nI have a mama and I love her dear,<\/em>
\n<\/em>But when I crave pie the choice is clear:<\/em>
\nHoosier Mama<\/a>\u00a0is the holy mother,<\/em>
\nWhen it comes to crust there is no other.<\/em>
\nButtery, rich, and oh-so sinful,<\/em>
\nI\u2019m known to eat it by the tinful.<\/em>
\nSeasonal fruits, berries galore,<\/em>
\nShe shops the market for what\u2019s in store.<\/em>
\nClassic apple, chocolate cream,<\/em>
\nGinger custard is supreme.<\/em>
\nBut if your tooth is not so sweet,<\/em>
\nMama\u2019s got a savory treat.<\/em>
\nMeat hand pies \u2014 you\u2019ll need no fork,<\/em>
\nStuffed with tasty seasoned pork,<\/em>
\nOr maybe beef or local lamb,<\/em>
\nEither way, it\u2019s a grand slam.<\/em>
\nIf you\u2019re clad in spandex or a roomy shirt,<\/em>
\nAnd enjoy sipping your dessert,<\/em>
\nOrder a pie shake from Mama P,<\/em>
\nAvailable for the second time only.<\/em>
\nShe\u2019ll take some pie \u2014 it\u2019s eater\u2019s choice,<\/em>
\nAdd some ice cream (hail, rejoice!),<\/em>
\nThrow it in a whirring blender,<\/em>
\nProving her prowess as a vendor.<\/em>
\nVoila le pie shake in all its glory,<\/em>
\nAnd thus we end this pastry story.<\/em>
\nThe moral here is no surprise:<\/em>
\nBe good to your mama and bad to your thighs.<\/em><\/em><\/p>\n

Food\/$ Welcome<\/p><\/div>\n

Olympia’s Bakers Guild held their annual Pie Fest–a fund raiser to benefit the area’s homeless and hungry. Several local organizations donated items such as a cutting board, cheese plate, rolling pin, pie server, wooden whale, gift certificates, grocery gift certificates, hot pads, towels, oven mitts, apple corer, measuring cups, wines, George Foreman grill, lighted wine bottle, golf balls, consultations, books, toys, soaps, lotions, candles, loofa, and many gift certificates.<\/p>\n

Olympia’s Mayor Stephen H. Buxbaum made a cameo appearance, announcing the last Saturday of February would henceforth be Olympia’s PIE DAY and Pie would was hereby declared to be its official food.<\/p>\n

Raffles, Pie Auctions & such<\/p><\/div>\n

After the Pie extravaganza, organizers estimated $3,000 was raised along with the community’s consciousness.<\/p>\n

Though attendance was high (well above the fire code rating of 81 for room occupancy) and the serving line long, it moved quickly.<\/p>\n

$85 bid takes Apple Pie<\/p><\/div>\n

Suspense rose with the bidding. The auctioneer successfully cajoled new heights in generosity.<\/p>\n

The auctioneer’s hypnotic performance opened the room’s wallets.<\/p>\n
