The Farm Boy Drive-in Restaurant owners (Nat D. & Mary M. Fowler) or Brian N . Robbins may have assumed Washington State Governor Inslee was toothless when he issued his public health order to close indoor seating to restaurant patrons. It’s hard to know because the principals don’t want to talk about it…at least to the press. It would appear there’s some confusion in the mainstream press as to just who is really who. If Brian Robbins has an ownership interest, it didn’t appear in WA’s DOR or DOL database. What did appear was a felony conviction some years ago and, years subsequent thereto, a petition to have his firearm rights restored.
The Fowlers ran afoul of the law in late 2020 by refusing to shutdown their indoor seating for patrons in the face of Inslee’s decree to do so. Doubtless, they were concerned about staying in business minus a customer base. They may have also doubted Inslee’s legal authority to impose such restrictions, pandemic or not. But tens of thousand$ in fines and an injunction has focused their attention, if not their belief. ($337,365 for violations from Dec. 22 through Jan. 11. After being held in contempt by a Thurston County judge Farm Boy was fined $42,000, from Dec. 18 through Jan. 7. )
The restaurant is within Lewis County, but all 3 superior court judges there recused themselves for the reason on of them was the father of one of the owners of said restaurant. Thus, the contempt case (refusing to comply with L&I’s directives enforcing Inslee’s decree as well as pay the draconian fines for their failure) venue was changed to Thurston County where Superior court judge Lanese had no difficulty presiding over the case against them and serve as Inslee’s teeth.
Due to the reticence of the principals to be forthcoming and transparent to the 4th Estate as well as the laziness of MSM reporters to dig deeper for the facts, this 5th Estate adversarial Gonzo journalist publishes the public record in full as to the case against the Fowlers:
